ABOUT US
In the summer of 1978, Abbott Norris was majoring in mathematics at the University of Montana and dabbling in design and fabrication of custom furniture pieces. He displayed a small cherry table and sidechair at a local crafts fair and was soon getting orders for more.
Norris Woodworking was born.
The young business grew steadily, moving from a garage to a small workspace to a series of bigger workshops. Today Norris Woodworking, Inc., is one of the Northwest's top-tier custom woodworking businesses, with a 18,000 square foot shop and customers across North America and Europe.
Abbott is now CEO, chief designer, and mentor to a crew of talented and meticulously trained draftspeople, programmers, woodworkers, and project managers. The company employs over 30 people, each with a specialized skill. They utilize both intricate hand-woodworking techniques and the latest in technology, but their work is still informed by Abbott's feel for design and elegant solutions to construction complexities.
The boundaries of Norris Woodworking extend beyond our facilities to a network of nationally acclaimed architects, builders, and interior designers. Together with our clients, we work closely with these fellow professionals so that our works not only possess a seamless beauty, but also fit seamlessly into their environment.
